Hey all!
Welcome to Exchange Christchurch! Known locally and online as “XCHC”.
We set up after the earthquakes when finding a safe buildings became unaffordable to most artists and creatives. We now provide hirable studio/open floor space to creative practitioners in our 400m²+ warehouse that sits right outside of the CBD.
160m² is used as co-working/production space. Currently used by jewelry makers, glass benders, fashion designers, architects, painters, photographers, musicians and more.
120m² is used as showcase/events space; because obviously once you produce something you need to showcase it! Also hireable walls for exhibitions which change almost every week keeping the space fresh and engaging
The rest of the space is dedicated to connecting those 2 steps with the public through our on-site chef run cafe, where chef Aliesha McGilligan explores her culinary creativity, providing a different menu almost every day and using ingredients from the local markets. The cafe also produces a very special Chefs Table/shared lunch every Thursday to bring the public and our residents together over the best kai.
